D’Youville does not charge students for printing, but there is a limit on what students can print.
- Print only academic work; printing for personal use is not allowed.
- Do not print more than two copies of any one document. Print one to turn in to your instructor, and one to keep for your own records.
- Do not scan something and print copies of it—that’s what photocopiers are for.
- When your class requires you to make copies of your work to hand out to your classmates, do not print those copies in the computer lab, because it is not fair to other students who will have to wait for the printer to be available. Instead, use one a photocopier.
We are doing everything we can to keep costs down, because printing is expensive.

We have had a problem with several of our printers spitting out blank pages (or mostly blank pages with some strange characters at the top of the page).
We are asking for your help in cutting down on wasted paper–please press the orange Stop button on the printer when you see blanks coming out. If you know how to cancel that print job, go ahead; otherwise just let us know in the office (you can pick up the phone and it automatically dials the office) and we’ll take care of the problem.

The computer labs are equipped with black-and-white laser printers that print on both sides. You may select single-sided printing on a per-print-job basis.
The college printing policy is to permit only two copies of academic work (one to turn in to your professor, one for you to keep). Students are not to print multiple copies as handouts for their entire classes, as this uses up our printing resources and delays others print jobs by other users. (For the rest of the computer lab policies, click here.)
At this time, there is no color printing. The nearest Kinkos copy shop is about 5 miles away (click here for a map).
