Academic Computing Services, an office that is part of Instructional Support Services, provides support to students and faculty in their use of computers and technology.

There are two computer classrooms and two computer labs in the Bauer Family Academic Center, and each residence hall has a computer lab that is open 7 days/week.

  • Two computer classrooms are available through Academic Computing Services. Instructors can schedule semester-long classes or one-time uses, such as exams or presentations. Click on the tab Reserving a Computer Classroom for more information. One classroom (BFC-013) is furnished with iMac computers, one with Windows (BFC-015), and both are equipped with LCD projectors. Update: The iMacs in BFC-013 are capable of booting in either the Mac OS or Windows XP.
  • The main computer labs are located in the lower level of the Bauer Family Academic Center, rooms BFC-002 and BFC-003. The computer labs are furnished with Windows (Windows XP) and Apple (OS X) computers, CD burners, scanners, and laser printers. The computer labs in the Academic Center each have a staffed Help Desk where students get help with computer and software problems.

Academic Computing Services has a scanner for processing bubble sheet forms and processes Student Satisfaction Surveys during each spring and fall semester, for summer sessions.

The scanner is also available to faculty for grading exams.

In addition to grading exams and processing faculty evaluations, Survey Tracker Plus is capable of performing surveys by email, the Internet, via floppy disk, as well as using traditional “bubble sheets.” If your office or program would like to use Survey Tracker Plus to conduct a survey, please call 829-7867 to place a request. It is a powerful, and therefore complicated, program to use, so it is not for the technologically challenged.

How To Use This Website

Categories
This web site is constructed with “categories” of pages, and those categories are listed in the menu on the left side of this page. If you’re looking for help in a specific category, click on the link for that category, and the web site will show you several “posts” of information in that category. You can also use the search function to look for posts and pages that aren’t designated in those categories.

Pages
There are several pages listed along the top right of each page that are just general information pages. Those pages do not contain the typical “help desk” type of information–that info is included in the “categories” part of this site.

Other Help
The “Other Help” section of the menu is a list of links to other departments of the college that provide service to students and faculty. We list them here because we have found that many times, a student’s question is not a computer- or technology-related problem, but one more to do with, for example, grades posted by the registrar or research questions that the library can answer.
